A Forest Holiday is about spending quality time with family and friends and relaxing in a beautiful forest, where you are free to walk and cycle without boundaries, take part in family activities and great outdoor adventures -- away from the stress and strife of everyday life. You can do as much or as little as you want - the choice is yours (and it won’t break the bank) !
Forest Holidays is a partnership between the Forestry Commission and The Camping and Caravanning Club and provides Cabin holidays and Caravan and Camping holidays in 24 stunning locations throughout Great Britain.
Forest Holidays are set exclusively within Forestry Commission estates across the UK in beautiful woodland and lochside locations, offering the perfect setting for a relaxed holiday. Imagine waking up in picturesque woodlands and enjoying the natural surroundings of fauna, flora and wildlife from the privacy of your luxury log Cabin. Wherever you stay, you can be assured of a relaxing break in a stunning forest.
Locations include Forest of Dean (Gloucestershire), and Keldy & Cropton, both in North Yorkshire. For those prepared to travel a little further, there is Deerpark in Cornwall and Argyll & Strathyre, both in Scotland.
All sites offer a variety of outdoor activities that are unique to each sites location and every member of the family can join in. There’s cycle trails and forest walks with the site’s own Forest Ranger. Learn about local flora and fauna and how to survive in the forest, including which plants are safe to eat, and how to build a shelter.
Other activities include deer and badger watching, tree walks and wild flower walks. You can even take part in a ‘Night Vision’ where you can view bats, moths and other nocturnal creatures with night vision equipment.
For the more energetic and subject to location, there’s canoeing, sea kayaking, gorge walking, archery, rock climbing, abseiling, caving and more – please check the Forest Holidays website for details as activities vary by site.
Cabins are luxurious with sumptuous furnishings, including flatscreen TV, kitchen and private terrace, and are available in various sizes and styles depending on your needs and budget....even the dog is welcome!
